Does it matter?
A question I ask myself a lot lately, and if I don’t go into extremes, like in the face of death nothing matters. I found it quite difficult to come up with a list of things that really matter, to which I would not have objections. So maybe it doesn work like that?
I think “matter” follows our focus. The sound of a buzzing fly somhere nearby might become a big deal if you focus on it. It could disturb your sleep, break your workflow on a very important presentation, distract you from the road while driving. It all might end up ugly.
Though I think flies are not very high in the list of things that matter to us, right? Unless you’re a biologist of course. Focus is like a magnifying glass that zooms in 100X into the thing you’re really focused on and turns it into a whole new world. A world where you are Thanos and can destroy it with a finger snap. Or make it better.
